„Live what you love and only as you like it“

In the heart of the Dolomites, in the quaint Eggental, surrounded by Catinaccio / Rosengarten and Latemar, once upon a time, lived the „Ganis“, known far and wide for their warm hospitality.

The „Ganis“ created a comfortable kingdom in one of the most beautiful places, surrounded by meadows and peace, where they had the chance to cuddle their guests and to surprise them every day. And, because the Ganis were a lively and popular company, fun-loving and never bored, they found several “secret places” where to take their guests to offer them great music and plenty of entertainment.

People came from miles around to spend funny and relaxing moments with the „Ganis“

One day a stranger arrived in Eggental. He had already travelled half the world, but until then, he never found what he was looking for: the perfect combination between variety and peace, luxury and nature, pleasure and simplicity. Restless he walked on the shores of Carezza Lake, where, suddenly a fairy appeared from the turquoise waves of the lake. Shaking her head, she looked at him and talked to him in a crystal clear voice:

„Live what you love, create your space,

for your dreams, enjoy every moment,

with all the senses, only as you like it …

The stranger was first taken aback, but then he realized that this was the key to his goal. And suddenly he felt arrived and ready to fully enjoy his life.

Autumn is so beautiful

Our top 10 tips for wonderful days at the Ganischgerhof

When summer is gone, the days with us are especially beautiful. The air is clearer and all around South Tyrol the guests meet for the traditional Törggelen. Young wine, roasted chestnuts, something to eat and time to spend together are the focus of the golden autumn. But this time offers more than just Törggelen. That’s why, we have created our top 10 tips for the autumn here.

1. Reach the summit of Corno Bianco

When the weather is fine you should go out and enjoy the mountains. The summit tour to the Corno Bianco can really be done by anyone who likes to move in the mountains. From the Passo Oclini, you can conquer around 350 meters in altitude on well-marked paths. After one and a half hours you stand at the feet of the summit cross and can enjoy a fantastic panoramic view. The hike can also be extended to a long and demanding round tour if you wish.

2. Tour around Latemar

A fantastic tour around the Latemar Massif for all levels of ability. Beginners and families can ride the tour as well as fitness miracles and riding technique freaks. The beginners’ version is recommended with e-bike support and lift. By e-bike from the Ganischgerhof to Obereggen, over the Karer Pass into the Fassa Valley. Then take the cycle path to Predazzo, from where the gondola leads to the Baita Gardoné. From there the chairlift takes you up to Passo Feudo, before a beautiful descent to Obereggen and back to the Ganischgerhof.

3. Wine tasting at Schreckbichl Winery

Hotel manager Klaus Pichler is a sommelier and can tell his guests an incredible amount about wine. In autumn, however, a wine tasting in a winery is a must in South Tyrol, where the quality of the wines has been steadily improving over the past few years. Klaus’ tip: visit the Schreckbichl Winery in Girlan. There you will not only find excellent wines, but also a lot to learn about the work of the winemakers.

4. See and be seen at the Concours d'Elegance

Every year, at the beginning of October it is time for oldtimer rally organized by the Eggentaler Herbst Classic. While the event has long been a must for active classic car fans, there is also plenty to marvel at for spectators. Especially beautiful. On the last day of the rally, the finale will take place in the city centre of Deutschnofen: the drivers and co-drivers will be dressing up for the Concours d’Elegance.

5. Sun bathing in Bozen

The Waltherplatz in Bozen radiates summer flair until October. Here in the afternoon enjoying the sun with an espresso or a glass of wine is simply wonderful. And that is just 20 minutes by car from Ganischgerhof.

6. Into the Bletterbach

The Bletterbach near Aldein is also called the Grand Canyon of South Tyrol. On a theme hike in GEOPARC, visitors can immerse themselves in millions of years of history. For adults, teenagers and children alike, this is a huge experience in an impressive landscape.

7. Hiking to the Messner Mountain Museum

Reinhold Messner is the superstar of mountaineers and probably the most famous South Tyrolean. He has created a total of six Messner Mountain Museums – on different topics. They are all worth seeing. It only takes about half an hour by car to reach Sigmundskron Castle, where the history of alpinism is presented in an extremely entertaining and sometimes spectacular way.

8. To the pilgrimage church Maria Weißenstein

Whoever has completed point 1 and stood on the summit of the Weisshorn looks down on the imposing “Dolomite Cathedral”. The hermit Leonhard Weißensteiner, who in 1553, after a fall into a deep gorge, met the Virgin Mary. In her honor he built a chapel, which was further developed from then on and is today an impressive place of pilgrimage. Pope John Paul II’s visit to Maria Weißenstein in 1988 caused a great stir.

9. A long day of wellness

Yes, it happens, although rarely, that the weather is bad in autumn. But don’t worry: what could be better than spending a day in our spacious wellness facility and SPA area. Fill up on heat in the sauna when it’s cold outside: wonderful!

10. Törggelen to the Laab-Alm

And of course no autumn vacation in South Tyrol goes without Törggelen. There are countless possibilities. A beautiful one is the hike from Ganischgerhof to the Laab-Alm. The hike is not too long and not too difficult, but long enough to enjoy the panorama, the chestnuts and the wine in a wonderful atmosphere. Because after a little physical effort, Törggelen is twice as beautiful.
